which hymns are on the project?

Originally we had planned on five: Blessed Assurance, Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy, His Eye Is on the Sparrow, Nearer, My God, to Thee, and 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus. Due to time and resources, we decided to save His Eye Is on the Sparrow for a later time!

Why these particular hymns?

As Daniel and I talked through a long list of songs, played through melodies, and thought through the project vision and theme, we landed on the ones listed above. All have the message of hope in times of worry, fear, physical brokenness, darkness, and sin. All proclaimed the powerful truth that the only safe place for our hearts, the only rock in times of trial, the only certainty in times of doubt, the only hope in the face of death is in the arms of Christ. That's the message of this project.

How would We describe the style
of this project?

Hmmm, that's a hard one to answer. We use a lot of orchestral elements, piano, some acoustic guitar, percussion, and vocal harmonies. We wanted to aim for all acoustic instruments recorded live in the studio, used in creative ways. You'll hear some droning sounds captured from the echo of piano chords, some strings functioning more percussively, etc. We wanted the listener to be captured both by the message of the songs and the emotional experience of hearing them. Think cinematic. :)
